Touch-Wood is about the work of Maurice Clother:
- Forestry - managing and enhancing our woodland resource, in a sustainable, biodiverse and productive way. I have a forestry degree from Bangor and am an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Foresters with lots of experience managing woodlands large and small, public and private. Also now involved with contracting, we can implement many aspects of management plans from planting and maintenance, through to moderate scale harvesting and our speciality: coppicing.
- Green Woodwork - I have always been amazed by the way traditional woodland crafts can swiftly transform wood into useful and attractive items. The use of hand tools and the skills our ancestors possessed are still accessible to us today; we just need to sharpen up those old tools and make the journey into the wood! The range of items for sale here will vary from time to time, according to what material the Touch-Wood gang is harvesting at the time.
- Short Courses - sharing the satisfaction and pleasure of working with green wood and sharp tools. I have been a teacher of green woodwork since 2001, and currently offer short courses based at the "Woodturning Area" at Lower Brockhampton, the National Trust's country estate near Bromyard in Herefordshire.
